Sadly, our elected representatives are elected to be on top of issues, not wait until an issue is brought up by staff. I feel that they are always surprised when something unpleasant is exposed or when unknown money is found.

One thought to those who say non-voters can’t then gripe. I look at my paycheque every two weeks and I see a large amount of it gone. It goes to the provincial and federal governments to pay for a multitude of services. As long as they keep taking money off my paycheque, then yes, I have a right to complain about how it’s being spent or even to praise someone for how it’s being used. The fact that I didn’t vote doesn’t take away that right to question your government. Think of the reverse. If you voted, does that mean you absolutely agree with everything the party stands for? If you voted PC, does that mean you can’t complain about anything the PCs do over the next four years? Of course, not, your vote wasn’t a blank cheque.
